Experts network on SDGs

Background

This experts network has been started under the leadership of the Lithuanian NGDO Platform, Reach for Change, Diversity Development Group, Create Lithuania and the Minister of Environment who is on charge of SDGs implementation in Lithuania. For this reason, this is not an exclusive CSOs coalition and currently on top of CSOs it gathers academics, people from the private sector and civil servants from the Ministry of Environment.

Functioning

This recently formed network organises montly meetings to discuss questions such as the process of formalization of the network and the new members adding procedure. The first meeting was held on February 2019 . This network at this stage is in the formalization process.

Additional Information

The network is involved in the formulation of the National Progress Plan (NPP) covering also the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for the 2021- 2030 and it has addressed it’s weakness by presenting new strategies to address them. At present, despite being a very young alliance, the expert network is able to make policy recommendations, communicate with policy makers and influence national Agenda 2030 formulation process.

Membership Information

Number:  20 active members (individuals). 10 CSOs. This network is based on individual participation, not the representation of different CSOs.

Sectors:
Global Justice and Development, Environment, Human rights Feminist / Women rights defenders/ Gender discrimination, Refugees and migration, Social, Disabilities and inclusion.

Main benefits for members:
Influence on SDG implementation in Lithuania, much more easier access to decision makers.
