United Kingdom

So far, the UK does not have an implementation plan for the Sustainable Development Goals. While there is a cross-departmental working group for the SDGs, there appears to be a lack of leadership.

The government is rather open to NGO inputs to SDG implementation. It responds to NGO actions and agrees to meet with NGOs when asked. There is no formal delegation to the High Level Political Forum (HLPF) yet but the government has asked CSOs for their input to the 2019 Voluntary National Review (VNR) process.

The UK Stakeholders for Sustainable Development (UKSSD) is a multi-stakeholder platform with 80 partners from various sectors, including academia, private and CSOs that drives domestic action for the implementation of the SDGs. UKSSD is preparing a Voluntary Stakeholder review (to be launched in July 2018) as a stocktaking of how the UK is performing in achieving the SDGs. They hold various conferences and events where Ministers and officials have been invited.
