SUMMARY:ACT: Your voice on Europe’s long-term climate action
DESCRIPTION:It is only a few weeks since Europe has suffered from another record breaking summer of heat waves and draughts\, making climate change very real for millions of Europeans. With the Paris Agreement and the SDG’s the global community has put in place the framework to act jointly on climate change and combat its impacts. To succeed we need to act urgently but also make sure that our long-term plans means we are reaching climate neutrality for our societies. \nTo do so\, the European Commission has published a public consultation on the 2050 long-term strategy https://ec.europa.eu/clima/consultations/strategy-long-term-eu-greenhouse-gas-emissions-reductions_en \nThe Commission is asking for citizens and civil society views on the future of climate ambition\, but also the contribution of circular economy\, agriculture and land-use. The deadline for responses is 9 October 2018 and it is important to get a strong response by civil society on the urgency to act now\, and bring Europe’s ambition in line with the Paris Agreement.
